Travis Perkins: How Routine Creates Champions

Travis Perkins won the NCAA Division II championship at Florida Southern College in 1997 and played on three national championship teams. When he transitioned to caddying in 2011, he brought the discipline of an elite athlete and the perspective of someone who'd competed seriously enough to know what actually separates good rounds from great ones.

The pre-shot routine is your anchor. Same look. Same breath. Same trigger. Consistency before the swing creates consistency during it.

A Childhood Friend Who Changed His Career

Perkins transitioned from competitive golf to caddying in 2011 when childhood friend Kris Blanks offered him a spot on the PGA Tour bag. The personal trust that comes from a lifelong friendship is a foundation most professional relationships never achieve. It was the beginning of a career that has included five PGA Tour wins and some of the Tour's most memorable moments.

The D.A. Points Moment in Houston

Perkins describes D.A. Points's 2013 Houston Open victory as his greatest memory as a caddie. Houston was Points's hometown — a win there carried emotional weight far beyond the trophy. Being part of the process that delivered a hometown victory for a player you believe in is exactly what caddies work years to experience.

Five Wins with Sam Burns

The partnership with Sam Burns has produced five PGA Tour victories. Burns is one of the most consistent performers on Tour, and Perkins's emphasis on routine and process aligns perfectly with his player's methodical approach to competition. Consistency, Perkins believes, is built before the swing even starts.
